Number of Building Consents on the Rise
March 3, 2015 New Zealand Finance
The number of consents being issued in Ne Zealand is increasing since last year, and a significant portion of the growth can be attributed to a rising number of apartments.
Late last week Statistics New Zealand issued a new statement showing that the number of building consents issued in New Zealand in January 2015 has risen compared to the level seen over the same months in 2014.
Over the course of January a total of 1 703 new dwellings were consented, equivalent to an increase of 3.6 percent.
However, it was also noted that out of all the newly consented dwellings, 314 were for apartments, and if these consents are factored out, the number of consents issued in January would actually have fallen by 6.8 percent.
According to Statistics New Zealand, the building works consented in January are estimated to be worth approximately NZD 1 billion.
